Blitz Games Lights the FUSE of their in-house technology
May 8, 2004--Developed exclusively by the Company’s internal Core Technology Team, FUSE provides a powerful custom-built integration between Blitz’s industry-leading FLARE content creation tool and their long established BABEL cross-platform runtime technology. This tightly integrated pipeline allows artists and designers to rapidly prototype gameplay without the traditional reliance on programmer input, freeing the technical staff to concentrate on developing further advanced features and cutting-edge special effects.
The upcoming Fairly OddParents game from THQ (sequel to last year’s award-winning Fairly OddParents title) is now entering final QA and is the first of a number of titles in production at Blitz to be developed entirely using this new technology. The development team has found that using the new code they have been free to concentrate on what matters most – creating compelling content. Supplying the game teams with this level of out-of-the-box functionality has greatly improved productivity and staff flexibility resulting in a higher quality gaming experience for the player.
Blitz has a history of substantial long-term investment in research and development as Andrew Oliver, Chief Technical Officer, explains: “We strongly believe that having control and ownership of our own leading edge technology gives us a huge competitive advantage over other developers. Our Babel libraries enabled us to get a head-start on PS2 and we are again reaping the rewards of our R&D investment with FUSE as it allows our staff to focus on being creative, safe in the knowledge that the technology underneath is stable, flexible and highly powerful.”
